The territorial police in Amolatar District are investigating an alleged robbery that occurred on July 20, 2024, at around 00:40 hours along the Amolatar-Acengryeng road.
The victim, Ogar Emmanuel, a 34-year-old Jaluo businessman from Kenya residing in Tangipai village, Sebei parish, Buda Sub-County, claims he was robbed by his friend and a boda boda rider.
According to Emmanuel’s statement, a friend named Okello David, with whom he had lived in Kenya for eight years, picked him up from his residence in Amolatar District for a visit to Okello’s home village.
Upon reaching Amolatar Town, Okello hailed a boda boda (motorcycle registration number UFF 166B, Bajaj) to take them home. However, when they reached Acengryeng, they were allegedly attacked by three armed men.
Emmanuel reported that he was robbed of his personal belongings, including 3.5 million shillings in cash. He further claims that Okello and the unidentified boda boda rider joined the attackers in robbing him.
A statement issued by the North Kyoga Region Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, revealed that Emmanuel suspects he was injected with an unknown substance in his right arm and forced to drink from a bottle, rendering him unconscious.
The attackers then fled with the stolen items, leaving Emmanuel unconscious in the bushes. He regained consciousness around 20:00 hours, managed to find his way back, and reported the crime to Amolatar Central Police Station (CPS). He was immediately referred to Amolatar Health Center IV (HCIV) for medical attention, where he remains admitted.
SP Okema confirmed that a case of aggravated robbery has been registered under CRB: 279/2024 at Amolatar CPS. Emmanuel’s statement was recorded after an interview, and he was then referred for medical attention.
Okema added that visiting the crime scene was pending as Emmanuel was unable to guide the police to the location. No arrests have been made yet. The suspects are at large, and the police are appealing to anyone with information on Okello David, the prime suspect, to come forward to assist with the investigation.
