A man who had been reported missing in Kikuube district was found dead in a coffee plantation.
Posiano Ayimbisibwe, 23, a resident of Karama village, Kimbugu parish in Kabwoya sub-county, Kikuube district, went missing from his home on June 13, 2024. Despite efforts from family members and local residents, the search initially proved unsuccessful. The matter was then reported to Kikuube police, who joined the search efforts.
On June 17, 2024, Ayimbisibwe’s lifeless body was discovered wrapped in a sack and dumped in a coffee plantation in the same area. According to Julius Hakiza, the spokesperson for the Albertine region police, the body showed signs of bruising around the neck, suggesting that Ayimbisibwe may have been strangled before his body was dumped.
Hakiza indicated that two suspects, Ayimbisibwe’s stepmother Rosemary Zamukunda and his uncle Taracis Aliganyira, are believed to have orchestrated the murder. Both suspects have fled the area and are currently being pursued by law enforcement.
It is reported that the suspects had a longstanding dispute with Ayimbisibwe over a piece of land and had previously threatened his life.
The police retrieved Ayimbisibwe’s body and transported it to the Kikuube Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem examination. Subsequently, the body was handed over to his relatives to make burial arrangements.
