Mob Murders 50-Year-Old Man in Apac Over Suspected Stolen Goat

The Police Public Relations Officer for North Kyoga Region has announced that local police in Apac District are detaining one person in connection with the alleged murder by a mob of Oyet Denis, aged 50, a resident of Apalamio Landing Site in Apoi Sub-County, Apac District.

The unfortunate incident, which occurred on July 15, 2024, came to the attention of authorities when Odongo Joseph, a Village Health Team (VHT) member within the landing site, reported it around 19:30 hours.




It is alleged that on July 15, 2024, at approximately 16:40 hours, Oyet Denis was apprehended by a group of individuals after allegedly stealing a goat at Apalamio Landing Site in Apoi Parish, Apoi Sub-County, Apac District. The suspect was then assaulted by the mob and succumbed to his injuries later.




A case of murder by mob has been filed at Wansolo Police Post. According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Police Public Relations Officer for North Kyoga Region, the scene of the crime was visited by the Officer-in-Charge of Wansolo Police Post and his team. Okema further stated that one suspect has been arrested to assist in the ongoing investigations into the murder.




Meanwhile, statements have been obtained from relevant witnesses. The crime scene will be revisited on Wednesday by a team of homicide investigators and Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) for proper documentation and to conduct a postmortem examination.
