Police Arrest 18-Year-Old Man for Possessing Stolen Goats in Isingiro

The Police in Isingiro District have arrested an 18-year-old man for being found in possession of suspected stolen goats.

The suspect, Kutaayo Ssebagara, a resident of Kakunyu cell, Rwekuubo ward in Isingiro Town Council, was arrested on October 22, 2023.




According to the Rwizi region Police spokesman SP Samson Kasasira, Police Officers on duty at Kahirimbi along the Isingiro Bukanga signaled motor vehicle registration UBD 345E Toyota Premio to stop, but the driver refused. The driver drove off at a high speed to Kityaza, and the Police pursued the vehicle due to its suspicious behavior.




The vehicle later branched off to Mbaare Buganga Road up to Mbaare Trading Center where the suspect parked together with other two male occupants abandoning the vehicle and took off on foot.




Police continued the pursuit and managed to arrest one of the suspects. A search of the motor vehicle revealed that it was loaded with nine goats suspected to be stolen. The vehicle had also been involved in a traffic crash that caused damage to it.

The motor vehicle was impounded and parked at Isingiro CPS and the goats exhibited awaiting possible identification by the owner.

Police is still tracking down the other two suspects that are on the run.
