Ugandan police have arrested Bbosa Tabula, the prime suspect in the murder of Engineer Daniel Bbosa, the leader of the Ndiga clan. The arrest was made on Monday, August 19, 2024, in Kimelika-Namulonge-Busukuma, Wakiso District, by the Directorate of Crime Intelligence, ending Tabula’s six-month run as a fugitive.
According to a statement released by Police Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, Tabula was apprehended by a crime intelligence squad. He is not only wanted for the murder of Engineer Daniel Bbosa but also in connection with the recent discovery of human skulls at his residence in Mpigi. Rusoke confirmed the arrest and highlighted the seriousness of the charges against Tabula.
Tabula’s arrest follows the murder of 72 year old Engineer Daniel Bbosa, which occurred on February 25, 2024, in Kikandwa, Lungujja, Rubaga Division. Bbosa was shot and killed as he was approaching his home. The murder shocked the community and triggered a manhunt for those responsible.
The case took a darker turn earlier this month when 17 human skulls were discovered in a shrine allegedly owned by Tabula in Mpigi. This gruesome find intensified the search for Tabula, who had managed to evade capture for months.
In the aftermath of Bbosa’s murder, two individuals allegedly hired by Tabula were intercepted by a mob. One of them was killed on the spot, while the other, Noah Lujja, was saved by police intervention. Lujja, along with four other suspects, has since been charged with murder.
In March 2024, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (CID) issued an appeal to the public, seeking any information that could lead to the arrest of Tabula. His photograph was widely circulated, and a bounty of UGX 20 million was offered to anyone who could provide credible information that would lead to his capture.
The arrest of Tabula marks a significant development in the case, bringing a sense of closure to the family of the late Engineer Daniel Bbosa and the wider Ndiga clan. The police are expected to continue their investigation to uncover the full extent of Tabula’s involvement in the murder and other alleged crimes.
