Namanya Elias, Ibanda District – Police in Ibanda District are investigating an attempted murder incident that occurred in Bukuuto 1 cell, Kigarama ward, Bisheshe division.
According to SP Samson Kasasira, the incident happened on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at around 1:00 AM and nearly claimed the life of Ahimbisibwe Joseph, also known as Kitengye, a 42-year-old resident of Kigarama cell.
It is alleged that on the night of the incident, the victim was sleeping in bed with Kyarisiima Annet, the mother of Tindyebwa Crescent (suspect). The suspect knocked on the door and demanded that Annet open it. Upon entering the house, the suspect went directly to the bedroom, armed with a panga, and attacked the victim, cutting him on the left leg and scrotum, causing severe injuries.
During the struggle, the mother grabbed the suspect, and the victim managed to escape to his home, where he called his friend, Busingye Patrick, who took him to Ruhoko Health Center IV for treatment.
Kasasira told the press that a case of attempted murder was reported at the Ibanda Central Police Station, and investigations were immediately launched.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ahimbisibwe Joseph had been in a long-term relationship with Kyarisiima Annet, the mother of the suspect, which had angered the suspect.
The Regional Police spokesman added that inquiries into the matter are still ongoing.
