Police Investigate Brutal Murder of Kabale Man, Two Arrested

Kabale, Uganda – Police in Kabale District have launched a thorough investigation into the tragic death of 57-year-old Mwerinde Broad, a resident of Murambo Village, Buranga Parish, Kamuganguzi Sub-county.




Mwerinde’s lifeless body was discovered on the morning of July 1, 2025, lying on a bed in one of the rooms of his house.




According to preliminary investigations, Mwerinde is believed to have been attacked and beaten to death by unknown assailants during the night of June 30, 2025.




The discovery was made by Birungi Patrick Paddy, who had gone to check on the victim around 8:30 a.m. After finding the body, Birungi alerted the deceased’s relatives, and the Local Council I Chairperson of the area, Jackline Mbangirwoha, formally reported the matter to Kamuganguzi Police Station.

A team of detectives from Kabale Central Police Station responded promptly, documented the scene, and transported the body to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.

As investigations progressed, two individuals were arrested to assist with inquiries. Their identities have not been disclosed to preserve the integrity of the ongoing investigation.




ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts are underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
