Police Probe Death of Man Discovered Near Kabale Stadium Perimeter Wall

Police in Kabale District have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of 30-year-old Twesigye Anthony, a resident of Rukidi Street, Bazaar Parish, Southern Division, Fort Portal Municipality.

The lifeless body of Twesigye was discovered on the evening of Sunday, June 1, 2025, at approximately 7:52 PM. Two men, who had gone to relax at Kabale Municipal Stadium, found the body lying on the green grass near the stadium’s perimeter wall in Central Cell, Central Ward, Central Division.




Officers from Kabale Central Police Station promptly responded to the scene, where they examined, processed, and documented the area. A search of the deceased’s belongings revealed a national identity card bearing the name Twesigye Anthony, along with a sachet containing a brown substance suspected to be rat poison. The sachet’s image of a rat has led investigators to suspect possible suicide.




The body has been transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the precise cause of death.




ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

Authorities are appealing to anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the ongoing inquiries.
