The Police in Kabale District have arrested six suspects in connection with the murder of a 45-year-old woman in Rubaya Sub-County.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, identified the deceased as Jovinta Tumushabe, a resident of Kafumbo Village, Rubaya Sub-County, Kabale District.
Maate stated that Tumushabe was allegedly murdered on the night of December 26, 2024, at Kafumbo Village. Her body was discovered on the following morning, Friday, at around 7:00 a.m., on the roadside in Kafumbo. She sustained multiple injuries, indicating a violent attack.
According to Maate, some residents reported witnessing the suspects exchanging words with the victim on the night of the murder.
The suspects were identified as Gadi Turyatemba, Niwagaba Fred, Friday Damson, Orikiriza Ambrose, Taremwa Esau, and Bahati Abdul, all residents of Kagasha Village in Rubaya Sub-County.
Maate revealed that residents immediately alerted the Kabale District Police Commander (DPC) and the Officer in Charge (OC) of the area. The DPC then informed the District Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer.
The CID team promptly responded to the scene, examined and documented it. Statements were recorded from witnesses, and the body was taken for examination and a postmortem.
