Six suspects are in custody at Kikuube Central Police Station for allegedly murdering a man. The suspects, whose identities have been concealed to avoid jeopardizing police investigations, are accused of killing Apollo Tumwesigye, 38, a resident of Kabegaramire village in Kaseeta Parish, Kabwoya Sub-county.
According to information obtained by Uganda Radio Network (URN), the suspects planned and brutally murdered Tumwesigye on Saturday night before dumping his lifeless body a few meters from his home.
Anatoli Bagyenda, another resident of the same village, explained that the deceased was last seen with some of the suspects on Saturday night around 9 p.m. in a local bar. Area residents were shocked to discover Tumwesigye’s body lying in a pool of blood near his home on Sunday morning.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, stated that police were alerted and swiftly responded. They rushed to the crime scene and commenced investigations, leading to the arrest of the six suspects.
Hakiza added that the deceased had sustained deep cuts on his head, face, and neck, leading to excessive bleeding that caused his death. The police retrieved the body, which was taken to Kikuube Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem examination and later handed over to relatives for burial arrangements.
Hakiza further explained that the search for other individuals believed to have conspired with the arrested suspects is ongoing. He appealed to the public to cooperate with detectives by providing crucial information that could lead to more arrests.
Once investigations are complete, the suspects currently held at Kikuube Police Station will be arraigned in court to face murder charges.
