Police authorities in Kassanda District have apprehended a 15 year old boy on suspicion of fatally assaulting his father, John Luyima, aged 50, a resident of Katovu Village in Kamuli Sub County.
Ms. Rachel Kawala, the Wamala Regional police spokesperson, disclosed that initial investigations suggest the incident occurred on Thursday evening. Allegedly, the deceased returned home from a local drinking establishment, where he had spent the entire day.
According to accounts provided by the deceased’s wife, Josephine Nakayana, a quarrel ensued upon Luyima’s arrival home. Following dinner, Luyima reportedly escalated the dispute, targeting his children with physical violence.
Ms. Kawala lamented the growing prevalence of domestic violence incidents and urged victims to seek assistance from the police’s child protection unit. The arrest of the teenage boy underscores the gravity of the situation, as authorities continue to grapple with the tragic consequences of familial conflict.
