Three Suspected Serial Hotel Thieves Arrested in Mbarara

Suspects detained in Uganda during police operation, sitting on the floor with confiscated jewelry and phones, highlighting crime and law enforcement activities in the region.

Mbarara, City – Police in Mbarara City on the evening of September 15, 2025, arrested three men in connection with a string of hotel and guest house burglaries targeting laptops, mobile phones, cash, and other valuables.

The suspects have been identified as:

  • Samba Joseph, 60, from Busia
  • Muhinda Rajab, 50, from Iganga
  • Masereka (first name not provided), 40, from Kasese

According to SP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, the trio allegedly broke into guest rooms at Rwampara Suites on the night of September 14, 2025, and stole various items including electronics and cash.

Police recovered multiple master keys allegedly used by the suspects to gain access to locked rooms. These tools have been taken as evidence and are currently held at Mbarara Central Police Station (CPS).

The suspects reportedly confessed to having engaged in similar crimes for over ten years, operating across various districts.

Investigations into the case are ongoing.
