Two Arrested in Mitooma for Timber Theft

Police in Mitooma District have arrested two suspects in connection with a timber theft incident that occurred on Tuesday night, November 26, 2024, in Kanganga Cell, Rwanja East Parish, Mayanga Sub-County.

The suspects, identified as Vincent Kaboyi and Stephano, also known as Kifano, are both residents of Kanganga, Rwanja East.




They were apprehended at around 10:50 PM while stealing timber from Anthony Kagurusi, a local resident.




According to Informer News, the arrest was made possible by a group of vigilant residents who formed an underground security team to combat the rising crime rates in the area.




Local residents have expressed frustration over the increasing thefts, including the recent theft of building materials and the demolition of Kagurusi’s under-construction house.

As of press time, the police had not yet issued an official statement regarding the arrests.
