An early-morning security operation in Kaboja A, Kasenge Parish, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District, has resulted in the fatal shooting of two suspected criminals.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Racheal Kawala, the suspects were killed during a disruptive operation conducted at around 8:00 a.m.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects were armed with knives, breaking implements, toy guns, and other items believed to facilitate criminal activity,” SP Kawala said.
She added that officers recovered suspected forged documents from one of the individuals, including a Uganda Police warrant card (No. 38468) bearing the name Byaruhanga Moses, listed as a Senior Traffic Sergeant and purportedly issued in 2016, as well as a National Identification Card in the name of Kachingwa Moses.
SP Kawala noted that the operation forms part of intensified security measures in Kyengera Town Council and neighbouring areas, where police have increased patrols and surveillance over the past two to three months following a series of reported panga attacks.
Investigations are ongoing to verify the true identities of the suspects and determine whether they are connected to the recent criminal activities in the area.
