Historic Shift: Alur King’s Coronation Moves to Parombo Chiefdom
In a significant development, the Alur Kingdom has decided to move this year’s coronation ceremony for His Royal Highness Phillip Olarker Rauni III, the king of Alur Kingdom, to Parombo chiefdom in Parombo Sub County, Nebbi district. This marks the first time that the coronation event will take place outside the king’s palace in Zombo district.
The decision to host the coronation in Parombo chiefdom was announced by the King on October 12, 2023. The move is part of the kingdom’s efforts to promote unity and inclusivity among all Alur subjects.
This year’s coronation is themed “Educating and Retaining Girls in School.” The primary focus is to inspire young girls who faced pregnancy-related challenges during and after the COVID-19 era to continue their education and reach their full potential, as explained by the deputy premier, Ocaya Vincent Orach.
Reports indicate that Parombo chiefdom, as the host of this year’s coronation, is actively engaging Alur subjects living in the diaspora. Rwoth Muzinga Patrick Ojobo, the Chief of Parombo chiefdom, expressed their delight in hosting the King, considering it a blessing.
Additionally, the rotational hosting of the King’s coronation, as suggested by Chief Nesta Odaga Uledhere II of Ayivuni, will provide an excellent opportunity for subjects in that chiefdom to interact with the King. This initiative is seen as a step toward fostering a stronger connection between the King and his subjects.
