The newly elected Won Nyaci for the Lango cultural institution, His Highness Eng. Dr. Michael Odongo Okune, has assured his subjects that his coronation, scheduled to take place on the 2nd of November, 2024, has received a lot of support from all over Uganda, including from those living in the diaspora. He said various kingdoms, including Bunyoro, Ker Kwaro Acholi, and Kumam Royal Kingdom, among others, are more than ready to witness his colorful coronation in early November 2024.

He has called for unity and reconciliation as the Lango tribe awaits the forthcoming coronation that will take place at Mayor’s Garden on the 2nd of November, 2024. Won Nyaci Elect Eng. Dr. Okune congratulated H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the prevailing peace in the Lango sub-region and Northern Uganda as a whole and for making socio-economic transformation successful by providing the PDM program.

He also commended H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda for appointing several people from the Lango sub-region to various government offices and positions, including the recent appointment of four popular MPs from the Lango sub-region to head different committees in the 11th parliament. He noted that there are now popular ambassadors and ministers from Lango serving in the NRM government, and several sons and daughters from the Lango sub-region have been appointed as RDCs and Assistant RCCs/RDCs, who are now deployed and serving in various areas in Uganda.

“May the Almighty God bless H.E. the President abundantly!” said Eng. Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune. He was speaking in an exclusive interview with The Ankole Times newspaper on Wednesday evening in a telephone interview.

Ogile Jakayo, a prominent politician and LC3 chairman of Abok sub-county, said the Lango people are no longer going backwards but are instead prepared to mobilize massively for the coronation of Won Nyaci Elect Eng. Dr. Michael Moses Odongo Okune without fear or favor.

The Speaker of the Lango Cultural Institution, Willy Omodo Omodo, told members of the press earlier this week that 2.8 billion shillings have been budgeted for as the coronation period draws nearer.
