Catholics have taken to social media to voice their dissatisfaction with Phaneroo Ministries’ lead Pastor, Apostle Grace Lubega, regarding his views on their worship practices. Lubega stated that the Catholic practice of venerating images is incorrect and constitutes idolatry, which goes against God’s Ten Commandments.
The articulate pastor remarked that while it is true that Mother Mary resides in heaven, creating images of her and worshipping them as if they represent her is inappropriate. He further claimed that the Bibles produced through the Roman Empire contain numerous errors, including the omission of the commandment that prohibits making idols for worship. This commandment explicitly states that one should not create anything resembling heaven for the purpose of worship.
He expressed his astonishment when he encountered another version of the Bible where this commandment was clearly presented. On the contrary, he noted that the Bible associated with the Roman Catholic Church omits this commandment. In his view, this is erroneous and goes against the teachings of God.
Following the release of this video on social media, many Catholics expressed their anger and quickly took to their timelines to criticize the Pastor. They contended that these Born Again Christians behave as though they are divine while they, too, are merely worshippers.
“Why aren’t those guys talking about Indians who worship cows? Every time Nye Nye Nye Catholics worshipping idols….ba guys, mutuleke!!! If we go to hell, let us go. It’s none of your business!! You go to your heaven and we won’t bother you afterall there’s no beer that side ahhh,” said one Catholic on social media.
“Why does it bother people so much that Catholics worship idols, you guys, let people be…if someone worships his clay soil mixed with sand why are you bothered?
Leave him and he does what he wants that’s the free will God gave us. If he/she goes to hell so be it, focus on yourself and you go to heaven ahhh,” went another.
“That Apostle guy needs to know the difference between veneration and adoration when it comes to the Catholic Church otherwise soon will lose the little respect some people from other religions had for him
He’s turning from Grace Lubega to Disgrace Lubega,” another Catholic on X said.
It is essential to recognize that Born Again churches have historically clashed with the Catholic Church regarding their worship styles. These pastors are quite vocal in denouncing Catholic practices as idolatrous. While the Catholic Church tends to refrain from responding to these criticisms, there appears to be an ongoing tension between the followers of both religious groups.
