Taxi operators in Bwaise have lodged a complaint with Kampala Logistics Center (KALOCEN) Investment, the park developers, regarding the alleged misconduct of their park chairperson, Francis Ssemakadde Nsobya. The petition, initiated by over 300 taxi drivers from various stages, accuses Ssemakadde of violating park rules, particularly by creating duplicated stages for personal gain.

Rajab Mukasa, also known as Smart, the chairman of Kigumba-Bweyale stage and the park supervisor, joined the chorus of discontent, claiming that Ssemakadde established stages outside the designated park areas. Additionally, the operators accuse Ssemakadde of employing individuals referred to as “Kifeesi” to intimidate drivers who oppose his directives.

In response, Ssemakadde refutes the allegations, asserting that it is the park developers who are disrupting the taxi drivers’ operations. Fred Bogere, a manager from KALOCEN Investments, acknowledged the receipt of numerous complaints and petitions from taxi drivers, emphasizing that the developers are responsible for selecting the park administrator, not the chairperson.

Adam Ayeba, the District Internal Security Officer (DISO) representing the Kawempe Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Yasin Ndidde, confirmed that they are currently reviewing the petition, with action expected after the festive season.
