Gilbert Kakurugu, Mitooma – In a remarkable display of compassion and dedication, Doctors on Mission International, in partnership with Mitooma District local government and other organizations, conducted a one-day medical and surgical camp on May 25th. The event took place at Rurama Health Center II in Kiyanga, Ruhiinda North, Mitooma District. The camp provided free medical, surgical, dental, eye care, and HIV testing and counseling services to nearly 300 people.
The camp was a resounding success, with a team of volunteer healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, dentists, and pharmacists, providing essential medical services to the local community. The services included general medical consultations, dental care, eye care, circumcisions, abscess treatment, HIV testing and counseling, health education, vaccination, and psychological support.
The event was graced by the presence of Rev. Owen Muhwezi, Parish Priest of Rurama Church of Uganda, who welcomed the team from Doctors on Mission International with a prayer of thanksgiving. Mr. Bushoborozi Benon, Counselor of Rurama, commended the team for their selfless service and thanked the Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa and the Mitooma Local Government for their support.
Dr. Paul Mulyamboga, the leader of Doctors on Mission International, expressed his gratitude to the team of healthcare professionals for their tireless efforts in serving the sick and needy. He emphasized that the organization’s mission is to provide medical care while spreading God’s word, and thanked the local Member of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, for his support.
The camp was made possible through the support of various partners, including Doctors on Mission International, Rurama Health Center II, District Health Officer, Mitooma, Rurama Church of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, TASO Rukungiri, Brighter Smiles Dental Center, Mbarara, Ruharo Mission Hospital, Eye Department, and Holy Innocent’s Children’s Hospital.
Doctors on Mission International is a non-profit, volunteer-led organization based in Nyamitanga, Mbarara City, southwestern Uganda. The organization unites medical teams across the country to provide medical care while spreading God’s word through medical missions to resource-limited communities.
The success of this camp is a testament to the power of collaboration and the impact that can be made when individuals and organizations come together to serve others. As stated in Isaiah 53:5, “By His stripes, we are healed
