Dokolo South MP hopeful Obura Richard (NRM) mobilizes voters to fully prepare, follow, and participate in the roadmap for the 2025/2026 General Elections.

Dokolo, Uganda  – Mr. Obura Richard, the Dokolo South MP hopeful and a vibrant NRM youth leader, has encouraged his voters to participate in the ongoing update of the national voters’ register. He made the remarks during a press briefing at Valley Resort Hotel in Lira.

The Ankole Times exclusively learned on Friday evening that Obura is positioning himself as a likely successor to the long-serving MP Okot Ogo G. Felix from the Parliament of Uganda.

Recently, the Electoral Commission released a roadmap for updating the National Voters Register, which was initially scheduled to run from January 3, 2025, to January 24, 2025, but has now been rescheduled. The update exercise will now begin on January 20, 2025, and conclude on February 10, 2025.

Hon. Richard urged all residents of Dokolo South in Dokolo District to actively participate in the update process. The exercise will be conducted at all update stations across Uganda, from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM on each appointed date, including weekends. He emphasized that everyone should participate within the stipulated time frame to ensure they are registered.

Obura explained that this exercise provides an opportunity for all eligible Ugandan citizens aged 18 and above, who are not yet registered as voters, to do so, including his constituents in Dokolo South. He also encouraged registered voters who wish to transfer to new voting locations to apply for such transfers during the update.

Furthermore, Obura noted that this exercise will allow registered voters to verify their details and ensure they are correctly listed on the Voters Register at the voting locations they selected during registration.

The Dokolo South MP hopeful also appealed to students aged 18 and above to take advantage of the update exercise before returning to school.

He urged all stakeholders in the electoral process to follow the guidelines issued for the update to ensure full participation in the 2026 general elections.
