The Honorable Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, has officially received the instruments of power from the outgoing NRM Vice Chairperson of Lira City, Mugisha Patrick, as she takes over as the new Chairperson of the NRM party in Lira City.

The handover took place on Saturday at the NRM office located in Senior Quarters, Lira City East Division. Dr. Aceng presided over the installation of Lira City NRM leaders, emphasizing that unity and servant leadership are key if the NRM party is to grow stronger in Lira City.

Dr. Aceng called for the development of the city without jealousy, encouraging a spirit of good leadership at all levels. She predicted that President Yoweri Museveni, the NRM National Chairman, will receive 95% of the vote in Lira City during the 2026 general elections.

While addressing hundreds of NRM executives from both Lira City West Division and Lira City East Division, Dr. Aceng noted that nearly 9,000 NRM structures, from village (cell) to city level, can contribute to a robust mobilization strategy that will boost President Museveni’s and the party’s performance in the upcoming elections.

She urged the party structures to show commitment and hard work, rather than being money-minded, especially during mobilization ahead of 2026.

Lira City RCC, Emmy Lawrence Egole, affirmed his continued support for mobilizing on behalf of the party, stating that he would remain loyal despite any obstacles because “it is NRM that employed me, not the opposition.”
