Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced a postponement of the release of the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination results. Originally scheduled for today, Friday, February 7, the release has been moved to either Tuesday, February 11 or Thursday, February 13 (UNEB has not yet confirmed which date will be used).
Sources who attended a meeting on February 5 at State House between UNEB officials and the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, indicate that the change was due to a scheduling conflict. The First Lady reportedly had prior commitments on the originally planned release date.
UNEB Executive Director, Prof. Celestino Obua, and Dr. Dan Odongo were among the officials who briefed the Minister on the examination results.
The UCE results are eagerly awaited by students, parents, and educators nationwide, as they play a crucial role in determining students’ future academic pathways.
This year’s 2023 UCE exams marked a significant milestone, as candidates were assessed under the new lower secondary curriculum for the first time. To ensure a smooth transition, students took two sets of exams: one under the new curriculum and another, the “transition examination.”
UNEB’s theme for the 2023 exams, “Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment,” underscores the board’s commitment to adapting to the evolving educational landscape.
The delayed release of the UCE results will provide valuable insights into the performance of students under the new curriculum.
