Land Dispute Resolved for Obongi Senior Secondary School

Lokoroi Charles, the deputy CAO, and Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of in Obongi district, , have successfully resolved a land dispute related to Obongi Senior Secondary School. The conflict arose when a community member attempted to seize land designated for the school.

The intervention came after a petition by Awuga Khalid Osman, the chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) at Obongi SS. Osman complained that Ezama Cicilio, a neighbor of the school, employed force, including individuals wielding pangas, to expel a technical team of district surveyors. The team was surveying the school land to fulfill the Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) requirement for obtaining funds to upgrade Obongi S.S.




Cicilio sought to acquire more than 50 acres of land that had been donated by Mzee Guma Emmanuel of Aliba sub-county. Following the successful intervention by the deputy CAO and the RDC, the school land has now been surveyed, and the titling process has commenced.




In an exclusive interview with our reporter, RDC Samuel Mpimbasa Hashaka emphasized the importance of avoiding conflicts with government policies surrounding school lands. He called for amicable resolutions to land disputes in order to foster harmony within the community.




Hashaka warned that individuals in Obongi attempting to seize school land could face legal consequences, emphasizing the need for a peaceful resolution to land conflicts for the benefit of the entire community.
