The graduation ceremony will take place at the main campus located at Ayere Cell, Lira City West Division, Lira City. A total of 496 graduands will receive degrees and Post-Graduate Diplomas in various academic programs. The graduates comprise 274 (55.2%) males and 222 (44.8%) females.

The theme for the Graduation is: “Enlightening Futures: Empowering Minds, Transforming Communities,” according to the University’s Senior Communication Officer, Patrick Opio.

He said the university has experienced a constant increase in student enrollment since its inception in 2016, attributed to the strong team comprising academic and non-academic staff.

Among the dignitaries expected to grace the occasion are the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs. Janet Museveni, the Minister of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Hon. Betty Amongi Akena, the Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the Government Chief Whip, Denis Hamson Obua, Vice Chancellors from other universities, Members of Parliament from the Lango sub-region, District Chairpersons from the Lango sub-region, development partners, and other leaders.

“As a public entity, Lira University envisions being “a Beacon center of Applied Sciences and Technology.” We shall achieve this by providing access to quality higher education, professional training, research, and innovations for the delivery of appropriate services directed towards community transformation and conservation of biodiversity,” Opio said on Friday.

He stated that the University cherishes professionalism, effectiveness, efficiency, accountability, transparency, teamwork, gender responsiveness, and sensitivity to people with disabilities as its core values.

“It is a standard practice at Lira University to hand academic documents (Transcripts and Certificates) to Graduates on the day of the graduation ceremony so that they can immediately utilize them for seeking job opportunities,” he added.
