Makerere University Announces Government Sponsorship for Diploma Holders in 2024/2025 Academic Year

Makerere University has opened admissions for Diploma Holders under the Government Sponsorship Scheme for the upcoming 2024/2025 Academic Year. The Academic Registrar has invited applications from eligible candidates, allowing a maximum of 5% of the intake capacity for this category.

Applicants must hold at least a Credit or Second Class Diploma in a relevant field from a recognized institution. Additionally, they should possess a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 Passes or its equivalent, and a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least One Principal Pass and Two Subsidiary Passes obtained at the same sitting or its equivalent.




To apply, each candidate must pay a non-refundable application fee of Shs.50,000/= along with the Bank Charge, using an ACMIS Pay Reference Number. This payment should be made to any bank authorized by URA before submitting the system-generated application form to the Admissions Office, Room 315, Level 3, in the Senate Building at Makerere University.

  • Relevant Diploma with Certified Transcripts
  • Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least 5 Passes
  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least One Principal Pass and Two Subsidiary Passes
  • Non-refundable application fee of Shs.50,000/= plus Bank Charge

Certified copies of Diploma Transcripts from the awarding institutions must be attached to the application forms. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Details of the required diplomas for each program can be found on the Undergraduate Admissions Notice Board on Level 3, Senate Building, Makerere University, and the official university website (www.mak.ac.ug).

Applicants are responsible for verifying their academic documents from the awarding institutions after admission. A copy of the Birth Certificate should also be attached to the application form. The closing date for submitting application forms and certified copies of academic documents to the University is Thursday, 29th February 2024.
