Kampala, Uganda – The Ministry of Education and Sports has announced that Senior Five students will begin their first term on Monday, March 3, 2025. The announcement was made by Education Minister Janet Museveni during the release of the 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results.
Minister Museveni stated that the term dates are designed to facilitate a smooth transition for students, especially those entering Senior Five.
“The Ministry of Education and Sports is committed to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our education system,” Minister Museveni said. “We urge all students, parents, and educators to note these term dates and make the necessary arrangements.”
The Minister commended UNEB and other stakeholders for their efforts in implementing the new lower secondary curriculum. Her praise comes as the first cohort of students under the curriculum received their UCE results.
Minister Museveni acknowledged the challenges of the transition but expressed gratitude for the dedication and hard work of teachers, parents, and other stakeholders. She specifically praised the teamwork and collaboration that made this milestone possible.
The new curriculum focuses on developing competencies across all learning areas, equipping students with the skills required for Uganda’s future development.
