National Unity Platform (NUP) Party President, Bobi Wine, inaugurated the Party School of Leadership today at their former premises in Kamwokya. The establishment of this school aims to cultivate a new generation of dynamic young leaders, catering to individuals across educational backgrounds.
Addressing the press, NUP stated, “We’ve officially opened the National Unity Platform School of Leadership at our former headquarters in Kamwokya which we intend to use to groom a new breed of vibrant young leaders.”
The school will welcome learners from diverse backgrounds, with three distinct classes outlined: one for the uneducated, another for graduates, and a third specifically tailored for leaders within NUP.
Enrollment is open to all, with learners categorized into three sets: the informal sector, professionals, and elected leaders. The curriculum will cover a range of subjects, including party ideology, political history of Uganda, modern economics, communication skills, principles of political leadership, strategies for political change, and conflict resolution in politics, among others.
Bobi Wine emphasized the significance of the school, stating, “The courses to be offered at the school are intended to equip our current and future leaders with the skills they need to lead and the ability to realize their full potential.”
As part of NUP’s vision for the future, the School of Leadership aims to produce leaders rooted in patriotism, transparency, accountability, and incorruptibility. It seeks to be a catalyst for change, fostering leaders who not only resist the temptations of power but actively work to dismantle structures that enable corruption, leading with integrity and accountability.
Wine added, “It is our duty to rise to the occasion and build a Uganda that is not only united but also free, just, and democratic; a Uganda whose citizens are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to participate actively in their governance.”
Party Secretary General Lewis Rubongoya added that the inauguration of the NUP School of Leadership marks a significant step towards nurturing a generation of leaders committed to the betterment of Uganda, embodying the principles of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
