Lira City, Uganda – Several schools in Lira City have celebrated impressive results in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), with a significant number of students achieving top grades.

St. Gracious Boarding Primary School emerged as a top performer, with 30 students passing in Division One, according to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) results released today.

“This is an encouraging performance,” said Mr. Elem Leo, the principal of St. Gracious Schools. “Out of 108 candidates who sat for the exams from St. Gracious Nursery and Primary School Day Campus, 78 passed in Division One, and 12 achieved high second-grade results, making them eligible for admission to Senior One.”

Mr. Leo emphasized the school’s consistent progress, highlighting that 78 pupils from the Day Campus secured Division One, and 12 passed in Division Two.

At St. Kizito Nursery, Day and Boarding Primary School, Sr. Susan Atoyo reported a significant improvement in performance compared to the 2014 PLE results. 153 students achieved Division One, with only one student passing in Division Two. Sr. Atoyo expressed confidence in further improvement this year, attributing this expectation to the dedication of teachers and the strong support of parents.

Other schools that demonstrated improved PLE performance include Saving Grace Nursery and Primary School and Adyel Primary School.

Adong Dorcas, a parent from Anai Ward, Lira City West Division, commended Dr. Patrick Olet, Director of Gracious Schools, for his efforts in raising educational standards in Northern Uganda.
