KISORO, UGANDA – The Eastern and Southern Africa Small Farmers Forum (ESAFF) Uganda has successfully concluded a three-day workshop in Nyakabande Subcounty, Kisoro District, aimed at empowering young women.

The training brought together over 25 women under the age of 35 from various subcounties.

The workshop’s core focus was to equip young women with essential skills for better family management and to emphasize their fundamental right to own property.

Participants received education on the critical importance of their inclusion in land agreements and titles, as well as their active involvement in key household decisions.

Aidah Mugenga, the LCV Women Councilor for Nyakabande Subcounty, strongly encouraged women to assume greater responsibility within their homes. She specifically addressed and critiqued the common tendency of leaving all significant decisions solely to their husbands.

Rashida Kabanda, ESAFF Uganda’s Communications Officer, further urged the women to actively participate in family decision-making processes and to diligently work towards the economic and social upliftment of their households.

Participants conveyed their sincere gratitude to ESAFF Uganda for its unwavering commitment to promoting women’s rights. They also pledged to diligently implement the valuable knowledge and skills acquired during the workshop within their homes and broader communities.
