The people of West Nile and South Sudan have commended President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta of the Republic of Uganda for a job well done in restoring the Obongi-Sinyanya ferry, which is now back in service.

Many of those interviewed by our reporter urged the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Obongi, Mr. Samuel Mpimbasa Hashaka, to convey their gratitude to President Yoweri Museveni for ensuring the prompt resumption of ferry operations.

The ferry resumed operations on Tuesday after the Adjumani-Sinyanya-Obongi road was severed by floods, sparking excitement among the residents of the district and surrounding areas.

The ferry’s operations were halted indefinitely on February 14, 2024, by UNRA (Uganda National Roads Authority).

The government engaged Bana Enterprises Ltd to carry out emergency repairs on the road.

Passengers at the ferry expressed their gratitude to RDC Obongi, who had been monitoring the ferry’s operations, and requested him to extend their thanks to His Excellency President Gen. Yoweri Museveni for his continued care and support for the people of Obongi district.
