Today, the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, is scheduled to visit the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, to evaluate the ongoing renovation works. The extensive renovation project, managed by the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) Engineering brigade, was initially set for completion on August 1, 2023. However, due to a request from the engineers, the deadline was extended to November 30 of the same year.

The renovation efforts extend beyond the stadium itself, with the adjacent Namboole Stadium hotel also undergoing refurbishment to meet international standards. This marks the First Lady’s second visit to the site since her last inspection in July 2023.

In addition, it was announced last year by the government that Namboole Stadium would host its first international match in March 2024.
