We have obtained a leaked letter (attached) from Dr. Elioda’s team, where he writes seeking a meeting with President Museveni to press him to urge MP Naume Kibaju of Sheema North to step down.
The letter is said to have been delivered to State House by Eng. Raymond Kamugisha, a close ally of Dr. Elioda.
Dr. Elioda contested against Hon. Dickson Kateshumbwa, former Commissioner of Customs at URA and former Chairman of the World Customs Organization Council, and suffered a humiliating defeat.
Following his assessment, he decided to run in Sheema North to unseat Kibaju, who recently lost her husband.
In his calculations, he assumes that Hon. Kibaju is weaker after the death of Obadia Ntebekaine, which has prompted the onslaught, culminating in the letter to President Museveni.
Sources from Sheema indicate that Dr. Elioda has teamed up with Eng. Raymond Kamugisha, Director of the Presidential Skilling Hubs, and Hon. Jacklet Rwabukurukuru to form an alliance against the MPs in the area, who are known to work closely together as a team.
They rushed to establish an NRM Nyekundire group to seek attention from President Museveni during his PDM tour of Ankole. They are reportedly planning a demonstration against Hon. Kibaju.
Sources also say that last Saturday, at a function in Mushanga Parish, religious leaders—especially from the Catholic community—condemned and cautioned Eng. Raymond Kamugisha against making irresponsible sectarian remarks in Sheema in recent weeks. These remarks are seen as efforts to return Sheema to its divisive political past.
Efforts to reach some area MPs, like Naume Kibaju, went unanswered, while Hon. Kateshumbwa couldn’t be reached as he is said to be in Brussels, Belgium.
