Even before taking oath in Parliament or earning a salary as a legislator, Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Rwashande has kicked off a major development project in Lwemiyaga County.
Over the weekend, Gen Rwashande launched the construction of a health facility that will mainly serve women in the county and neighboring districts. According to information available, he is set to invest more than Shs1 billion into the project.
The medical facility is expected to improve access to specialized healthcare, especially maternal and women’s services, which residents have long complained are limited in the area.
Gen Rwashande recently won the Lwemiyaga parliamentary seat, defeating long-serving incumbent Theodore Ssekikubo, who had represented the constituency for decades.
Supporters say the early start on development signals a hands-on approach, even before Gen Rwashande formally begins his work in Parliament.
