The prestigious tournament, held at the par 71 lakeside course, is set to host top golfers from across the region. Lady golfers from Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda are expected to showcase their skills in this multi-day event, scheduled to conclude on Saturday.

Jovia Tugume, the Lady Club Captain, expressed excitement about hosting the Entebbe Ladies Open, highlighting its significance as a precursor to the Uganda Open later in the year. She emphasized the club’s commitment to ensuring that the course meets the standards expected for such prestigious tournaments, inviting all lady golfers to participate and promising a memorable experience for all attendees.

The Entebbe Ladies Open holds special significance as a World Amateur Golf Ranking event, providing an opportunity for both male and female golfers to earn valuable ranking points. This not only adds to the competitive nature of the tournament but also allows participants to gauge their performance on a global scale.

Generous contributions from sponsors, including KCB Bank Uganda and Uganda Airlines, have bolstered the tournament’s prize pool and overall appeal. KCB Bank Uganda’s contribution of sh8 million will support the provision of trophies and various prizes, while Uganda Airlines has pledged to award air tickets to the Overall Ladies winner, runner-up, and second runner-up.

Additional sponsorship from Crown Beverages and insurance coverage provided by Britam Uganda further enhance the tournament’s stature and ensure a seamless experience for all participants.

While reigning champion Martha Babirye will not be defending her title this year due to her absence from the country, past winners have left an indelible mark on the tournament’s history. Notable champions include Jasper Kamukama, Flavia Namakula, Iddi Madina from Tanzania, Monica Ntege, and Irene Nakalembe, who has dominated the event with multiple victories. Peace Kabasweka emerged triumphant in the most recent edition of the tournament in 2022.
