Government Denies PPF Response Over Request to Hold People Power Reunion

Kampala , Uganda – The People Power Front (PPF) has postponed its much-anticipated event, The People Power Reunion, which was originally set for November 23, 2024.

The delay is due to unresolved issues regarding the use of Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

According to PPF leaders, they wrote to the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) on October 23, 2024, seeking permission to use the venue.

Although MODVA acknowledged their request on November 1, they have not provided a clear response, leaving PPF without an approved venue.

“This silence is frustrating,” said the event promoters during a press briefing. “We want to know why MODVA has ignored us, yet others get quick responses.”

The event was planned as a gathering for PPF supporters to discuss their strategy for the 2026 general elections.

However, the postponement has sparked claims of political sabotage. PPF alleges that some venue owners who had initially agreed to host the event later withdrew, refunding payments under pressure from powerful individuals linked to both the ruling government and opposition.

“This is deliberate sabotage,” the organizers claimed. “Some people are even paying venue owners to block us.”

Despite these setbacks, PPF has reassured its supporters that the reunion will still happen at a later date.

They are actively working to secure a new venue and promise to keep the public updated.

Since its registration with the Electoral Commission in December 2023, PPF has become a key player in Uganda’s political scene.

The postponement of their reunion highlights the obstacles they face as they prepare for the 2026 elections.

PPF supporters and observers are now waiting to see how the group overcomes these challenges and moves forward.
