The office of the Gulu Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Cosmas James Okidi, together with his assistant, Madam Anna Florence Alanyo, represented the Office of the President at the groundbreaking ceremony of Patiko Seed School in Gulu District.
The Deputy RDC commended the landowner for supporting the government’s initiative to construct a seed school in the sub-county, noting that it will go a long way in eradicating illiteracy among community members. He further encouraged the district authorities to ensure the piece of land is titled to avoid future uncertainties.
“The Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and project timeframe must be strictly observed,” the DRDC emphasized, stressing the need for value for money. “Especially when making the blocks, the mixture must be of high quality,” he added. He directed the clerk of works to take the project seriously and monitor it closely.
The construction of Patiko Seed Secondary School is expected to cost over UGX 2.3 billion and will be completed within a period of eight months. The company undertaking the project is Shine Africa Company.
The Deputy RDC instructed that all stakeholders must have a copy of the BOQ document to ease monitoring and supervision. “Our office will be open 24/7 for any complaints regarding the construction. Security shall be provided to ensure smooth progress at the site,” he stated.
Present at the event were the LCV Chairperson and his executive, the District Speaker, Hon. Councillors, the Deputy CAO and all Heads of Department (HODs), the Chief Legal Officer (CLO), the District Internal Security Officer (DISO), and sub-county leadership led by LCIII Chairperson Mr. Komakech, among other community members.
