Gulu District Steps Up Security for the Festive Season

The Ankole Times

Gulu District Security Committee (DSC) has implemented a plan to enhance security vigilance during the upcoming festive season. The district has been divided into three sectors, each under the command of a designated officer:

  • Sector 1: Patiko, Bungatira, Palaro, and neighboring sub-counties, led by ASP Moses Ogwang (0772992716).
  • Sector 2: Awach Sub County, Pukony, and neighboring administrative units, led by ASP Hidijja Abdu Nasser (0700539089, 0773956742).
  • Sector 3: Paicho, Unyama, and Omel, led by SP Kaawa Benard (0772186259).

All sectors are under the overall supervision of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Cosmas James Okidi (0782892580 or 0772469330).

Community Vigilance and Reporting:

Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity, strangers, or unwanted behavior to the designated officers for immediate intervention. The importance of security awareness is emphasized, especially during festivities when crowds gather.

Event Permits and Crowd Control:

Organizers of discos, night prayers, overnight events, fireworks displays, and large gatherings must seek permission from the RDC office to ensure proper crowd control and safety measures.

Additional Security Measures:

  • Three standby vehicles will be available to respond to any emergencies during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
  • Mobilization efforts are underway to address key concerns within the community, including security, government programs, land issues, promoting Executive Order No. 3 of 2023, HIV/AIDS prevention, bush burning, and anti-corruption initiatives.

Closing Message:

The Gulu DSC wishes everyone a safe and happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year 2024.
