Honorable Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Minister for Health, who also serves as the Woman Member of Parliament (MP) for Lira City, has received praise from many in the Lango sub-region for her role in securing quality treatment for NRM Spokesperson for Lira District, Mr. Ocen Jacob, at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
On Tuesday, the 24th of October 2023, Honorable Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero paid a visit to Mr. Ocen Jacob, who currently holds the position of NRM Spokesperson for Lira District and serves as the Political Assistant to Lira Woman MP, Hon. Agnes Linda Auma. Mr. Ocen Jacob had been admitted to Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala after being rushed there in critical condition from Lira a week ago.
It was through the timely intervention of Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero that Jacob Ocen was transferred to Mulago Hospital when his health deteriorated. Thanks to a team of specialists from Mulago assigned by Hon. Dr. Jane Aceng, also known as “Ceng Atedero,” Mr. Ocen Jacob’s health improved significantly.
The people of both Lira City and Lira District, including the NRM members in various parts of the Lango sub-region, had been concerned about the health of Jacob Ocen, the outspoken National Resistance Movement (NRM) spokesperson for Lira District.
An anonymous councilor from Lira District Local Government commended Minister Dr. Jane Aceng for her compassionate approach to caring for all the people of the Lango sub-region, without any discrimination.
“Quicker recovery, Jacob, and thanks to Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth, Woman MP for Lira City,” the councilor remarked.
Additionally, a respected high-profile NRM supporter and a prominent businessman in Lira City, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed a desire for Dr. Aceng to be part of the 12th parliament from 2026-2031. He praised her for her dedication to the well-being of all in the Lango region and wished Jacob Ocen a swift recovery.
On another note, Hon. Awor Sarah Angweri, the workers’ representative in the Lira City Council, also commended Minister Dr. Aceng Jane Ocero. She described Dr. Aceng as a true Christian with a generous spirit who taught her valuable lessons about politics, emphasizing the importance of unity and maturity in politics. She pledged her unwavering support to Dr. Aceng.
It’s worth mentioning that Hon. Jane Ruth Aceng recently mobilized a team of 250 doctors from across the country who held a surgical camp in the Lango sub-region. This camp resulted in over 1,000 patients undergoing surgery in just one week.
