The Deputy RDC of Dokolo District, Masaba Ismail, has joined the Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) exercise to mobilize efforts for reducing malaria. He joined a team that included the LCV, DEC members, DHO’s office, CAO’s office, local lower leaders, and community members in this important exercise.

IRS involves the application of a long-lasting, residual insecticide to areas where potential malaria vectors may rest.

During the exercise, surfaces such as internal walls and ceilings of all houses or structures where these vectors might breed or come into contact with the insecticide will be sprayed. IRS is one of the major interventions the government is using to control malaria in the country.

In Dokolo District, the spraying is taking place in only six malaria high-burden sub-counties: Dokolo Sub-county, Amwoma, Adok, Okwongodul, Kangai, and Adeknino Sub-county. However, the spraying officially began on December 2, 2024, and is planned to continue for a period of 25 days.

We urge all household members to open their houses for spraying by the spray operators,” urged Deputy RDC Masaba. He emphasized the importance of allowing spray operators to treat homes, as it will help reduce the spread of malaria caused by mosquitoes.

A 55-year-old man from Adeknino Sub-county described Masaba as a very active cadre who has consistently mobilized the community for all government programs, including PDM.
