The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Gender, in a collaboration in this year’s International Men’s Day (IMD) celebrations in Uganda are poised to make a lasting impact on men’s health and empowerment. Dr. Lydia Mungherera, Co-chair of the Ministry of Health Male Involvement and Coordinator of the International Men’s Platform, is spearheading the event, scheduled for November 30 at Kololo Airstrip.

Under the theme “Celebrating Men’s Leadership for Health and Economically Empowered Families,” the focus extends to various aspects of men’s lives, encompassing their roles as family heads, mentorship of young boys, overall well-being, and economic empowerment.

The Uganda Police has wholeheartedly embraced this initiative, recognizing its significance in providing a platform for the majority of men within the police and military forces. Their involvement will be prominent in key activities, such as the Police 10km walk commencing from the Constitutional Square on the 25th, featuring Chief Walker Minister of Internal Affairs Kahinda Otafire.

Several impactful events are scheduled, including a football tournament for young boys at the MTN Omondi Stadium on the 6th and a police medical camp on the 14th at Kibuli Police Primary School.
