The Member of Parliament aspirant for Kira Municipality, Hon. Kananura Daniel (aka Damazo), on 6th January 2025, held a constructive meeting with the Director of Mobilization at PLU, Hon. Micheal Mawanda, at the PLU Secretariat, Saddler Lane, Naguru.
The meeting focused on how Hon. Kananura can continue his PLU mobilization campaign in Kira Municipality alongside his political aspirations.
Hon. Kananura has been a strong supporter and mobilizer for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and the NRM/PLU in Kira Municipality. In the 2021 NRM primaries, Hon. Kananura contested for Member of Parliament to represent Kashari North Constituency in Mbarara District, where he emerged second.
Despite this, he respected the NRM flag and supported the party’s flag bearer in the general elections. This highlights his clear ideological vision and unwavering support for H.E. Kaguta Museveni and the NRM government.
Kira Municipality, one of the focal points in the Kampala Metropolitan area, has long suffered from the politics of aimless opposition, which has, over time, hindered service delivery from the government. Under the leadership of the incumbent MP, Hon. Ssemujju Nganda, many government programs that could benefit the common people have faced resistance and sabotage.
However, voters have voiced their support for an NRM/PLU candidate who can effectively connect with the government to bring about tangible service delivery in the municipality.
The poor state of roads in Kira Municipality is attributed to the MP’s failure to raise such critical issues with the head of state and Parliament. A thriving business area needs good road networks, sustainable electricity, and a reliable water supply to flourish. However, leadership gaps have contributed to many of the current challenges in Kira.
Hon. Kananura Daniel is believed to be the key figure who can revitalize the glory of Kira Municipality in 2026.
