Jinja Hippos’ head coach Edmond Quaresma expressed optimism after his team’s historic 18-15 win against KOBS in the Nile Special Championship opener at Pitstop Playground in Jinja.

The unexpected victory has instilled confidence in the Jinja-based club, signaling their determination to challenge top teams like Heathens, KOBS, and Pirates for top positions in the league.

Despite previous struggles in the Uganda Cup, Jinja Hippos’ impressive performance against one of the league’s oldest clubs has sent a strong message to their competitors.

Under the guidance of Tanzanian coach Saidi Atibu, who succeeded the late Robert Sseguya, Jinja Hippos have displayed a newfound competitiveness, fueled by the recent acquisitions of Kenyan powerhouse Paul Ssiringiti and Fidel Aramo.

Club spokesperson William Mwijuka expressed confidence in the team’s potential for a successful season, emphasizing their determination to improve upon previous performances.

Coach Quaresma echoed Mwijuka’s sentiments, urging his players to remain focused and hungry for success in upcoming matches.
