The political atmosphere of Lira City is reaching a climax with Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero causing political fever among some of her 2026 political opponents as she coordinates the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) by leading the new PLU strong team in the Lango sub-region.
Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, commonly known as Cenga Atedero, who also serves as the Woman MP for Lira City, is now taking on the role of being a full Coordinator of the Patriotic League of Uganda and has gained more support since Sunday evening.
Some social media experts in Lango have narrated that Aceng’s appointment could be a stepping stone to winning the forthcoming 2026 general election, as Gen. Kainerugaba has more support in all parts of the country, including Lango and Northern Uganda as a whole.
Her appointment comes at a time when the youth and women in Lango and Northern Uganda view PLU as a favorite NRM party faction that will influence individuals and voters from all walks of life to vote for Aceng Ocero.
According to Akello S.B. of Teso Bar, PLU is a very organized political setup with a high influence and clear agenda, among other strengths. Adong Dorcas O. of Anai Bunga said PLU’s agenda can be marketed in the region through Minister Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, as she is naturally liked by many people in all parts of Lango due to her connections in the health sector nationally and globally.
In a press release seen on Sunday on various platforms by the PLU secretary, the personalities selected from the Lango sub-region comprise a team of real political mobilizers as detailed below:
