Local leaders and residents of Buhara Sub-County, Ndorwa East, Kabale District, have collectively called for the expedited completion of the 5km Rwene-Kabahesi-Nyaconga road. This demand was made on August 15, 2024, during a pig distribution event hosted by Kabale District Woman MP, Hon. Atwakiire Catherine Ndamira.

The local leaders, led by Mr. Keinamura John and Turikyarokyi Flugence, emphasized the road’s significance to the community and expressed concerns about the potential consequences of delayed completion, particularly with the impending September rains.

They also expressed dissatisfaction with a group of individuals, primarily from Kabahesi, who are politicizing the project and demanding compensation despite initially agreeing to offer their land without it.

Niwaha Francis, a senior journalist and Buhara Sub-County chairman aspirant, urged locals to embrace the road construction for the benefit of their community, stating that development is contingent upon road construction.

Hon. Atwakiire Catherine Ndamira commended the NRM Government and the Ministry of Works and Transport for their efforts on the road construction and challenged the contractor to complete the project before September.

The 5km road, valued at UGX 618,975,140, connects Buhara Sub-County to Kamuganguzu Sub-County along Kabale-Katuna. The project was lobbied for by Hon. Atwakiire Catherine Ndamira and Ndorwa East Legislature Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba from the Ministry of Works and Transport, and was launched by Kabale District leaders on June 4, 2024.
