In a recent cabinet reshuffle, two Karamoja ministers, Agnes Nadutu and Mary Goreti Kitutu, were removed from their positions. The decision came amidst accusations of their involvement in the theft of iron sheets intended for the Karimojong reformed warriors.
Upon hearing the news of their dismissal, a section of the Karimojong youth erupted in celebration, chanting praises to President Museveni for his decisive action.
“Let them get out, Mr. President. Thank you for that intervention; our tears have worked,” exclaimed Paul Icumar, one of the youth.
According to Icumar, those who harm the Karimojong will face consequences, ensuring that justice prevails.
Betty Anyakun, another resident, voiced her discontent, stating that the actions of the two ministers had exacerbated the poverty levels among the Karamoja people.
“I was disturbed upon seeing those two ministers touring Karamoja after looting us,” she lamented.
Following the reshuffle, Peter Lokeris Aimat, the former state minister for minerals, has been appointed as the new Karamoja minister, according to the current list.
