Moroto, Uganda: A section of Karimojong youth and elders have voiced serious concerns to Ugandans who are pleading with President Museveni to pardon the corrupt Karamoja minister, Dr. Goreti Kitutu.
Dr. Kitutu is currently facing multiple charges for diverting thousands of iron sheets intended for distribution to reformed Karimojong cattle rustlers.
However, some Ugandans are pleading with President Museveni to pardon her.
On Tuesday, the DPP slapped Kitutu with additional charges involving her failure to supervise projects worth Shs 10b released for Karamoja.
John Nangiro, a resident of Lorengedwat in Nabilatuk district, said that if the President accepts the calls to pardon Minister Kitutu, it means he’s not ready to fight corruption.
“If President Museveni pardons Kitutu, then we shall conclude that the president is not ready to end corruption, and instead, we shall ask him to include it in a school syllabus,” he said.
Samson Lokut, another resident, said Kitutu and others implicated in the theft of Karamoja iron sheets should be out of office by now.
He also advised other MPs to disassociate themselves from corrupt ministers.
