KCCA FC, the 13-time Uganda Premier League champions, has confirmed the departure of their head coach, Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil. The Portuguese tactician, who joined the club in June this year, left the team due to a family issue requiring his immediate attention. His exit was mutually agreed upon by both parties, leading to the departure of assistant manager Luis Manuel Corriero as well. In the interim, Jackson Magera Kaddu has been appointed as the new Head Coach, taking charge of all first-team duties.
Despite Traguil’s previous successful management of teams like Kaduna United in Nigeria, Hearts of Oak in Ghana, and Singida Big Stars in Tanzania, his tenure at KCCA FC fell short of expectations. The team experienced a challenging period, marked by four consecutive losses against BUL, Maroons, Express, and Kitara FC, among other disappointing results. This run of poor performance drew severe criticism from the club’s fans, who accused Traguil of losing control of the team’s dressing room and clashing with several senior figures.
During KCCA FC’s recent trip to Hoima, where they lost to Kitara FC, key players like Moses Waiswa and Derrick Ochan were reportedly left out of the squad due to a strained relationship with the coach.
