The recent loss of KCCA FC to Kitara FC has been attributed to the players’ recklessness on the field, according to post-match analysis.
Played at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, KCCA FC faced another challenging evening, falling short with a 1-0 defeat against their opponents.
This match was pivotal for KCCA FC, offering an opportunity to reverse their fortunes after a previous 3-1 defeat in Masindi. However, Abdallah Mubiru’s team failed to meet expectations, resulting in another loss.
Denis Omedi’s goal in the 80th minute sealed Kitara’s victory, marking KCCA FC’s ninth loss of the season out of eighteen games played so far.
Speaking to the media shortly after the game, Head Coach Abdallah Mubiru expressed disappointment over the loss, attributing it to the team’s recklessness and emphasizing it as a significant lesson for them.
Despite KCCA FC’s dominance in the game, with several open chances, including misses by Muhammad Shaban and Etienne Katenga, they failed to capitalize on their opportunities.
The visitors, Kitara FC, also missed a crucial opportunity in the first half when Jude Ssemugabi’s shot narrowly missed the post before Omedi’s late goal secured the win.
Mubiru acknowledged the team’s strong start in the first 20 minutes but noted a loss of momentum and intention thereafter, leading to the eventual defeat.
Looking ahead, Mubiru highlighted the need to address identified errors before their upcoming match against NEC FC scheduled for February 28th, 2024.
With this defeat, KCCA FC currently occupies the ninth position with 23 points, while Kitara FC climbs to second place with 36 points, trailing leaders BUL FC by a margin of just two points.
BUL FC’s draw against Maroons FC resulted in them conceding two valuable points in the title race, setting the stage for an increasingly competitive league.
