The management of St. George Nursery and Primary School has urged parents to commit to providing scholastic materials and paying school dues as a key strategy to improve the school’s academic performance.
The appeal was made during the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) Annual General Meeting held yesterday at the school grounds in Mutolere Parish, Nyakabande Subcounty, Kisoro District.
Hakizimana Martin, the school’s PTA Chairperson, emphasized the importance of parental responsibility in supporting the school’s development.
He criticized parents who fail to attend school meetings, noting that their absence hinders the implementation of key decisions that could benefit learners.
The school director, Rev. Fr. Sebatware, echoed Hakizimana’s remarks and encouraged parents to understand and fulfill their roles in their children’s education.
He also highlighted that the school follows a policy of under-marking and advanced syllabus setting, strategies aimed at promoting academic excellence among learners.
The Headteacher, Sister Joseline Atwogyeirwe, reported an increase in student enrollment and outlined some of the school’s recent achievements. She urged parents with outstanding dues to clear their balances early to ensure smooth school operations.
Niringiye Nzitusi, the Kisoro District Inspector of Schools, applauded the efforts of the school administration and called for continued collaboration among parents, teachers, and school management.
During the same meeting, Hakizimana Martin was re-elected as the school’s PTA Chairperson.
