Andrew Moses Awany, the LCV Chairperson of Kole District, has been elected as the President of the Uganda Local Governments Association (ULGA).

Awany secured 117 votes, defeating his closest competitor, James Ategeka, the Bunyagabu District LCV Chairperson, in a closely contested election held in Kampala on Friday.




Awany, who previously served as the Vice President for Northern Uganda, secured a landslide victory in this election. His supporters from the Lango sub-region celebrated his win.




The Speaker of Lira District Local Council, Hon. Morris Okello Adam, expressed his joy at Awany’s victory.
